DESCRIPTION
Marina Abramovic has shown us how a superst-artist asks the public to participate in her becoming a spectacle of herself - an artist in quotes - with her performance in The Artist is Present. Viewers are forced to consider questions of art - what is a document / commodity of a performance work? when is art? what is it like to consume performance art? what is a viewer/participant? How do our responses to works change throughout an experience of art?
OCCURENCES
Giambattista and Ninq will perform their own test of endurance by watching Matthew Barney's Cremaster Cycle in its entirety (parts I-VI 6hrs 38mns) on June 6th 2010. They will answer a prepared question every fifteen minutes, constrained by the medium of Twitter - 140 chars.
